Back home from a quite full weekend at the NatGeo Exodus Aveiro Fest, among lots of talented photographers, both in the stage and the audience. From all the amazing sessions I can’t help to stop thinking those inspire or provoke change: Reza, Mario Cruz, Pete McBride, Akash and Ami Vitale (the last two complemented by insightful masterclasses). Can’t stop thinking this is why it’s worth telling stories. Huge respect for Bernardo Conde and the rest of the team for pulling this off! #festival #ngexodusaveirofest

Veneration of the dead is a significant part of Catholicism, so easily seen in the cult of saints and relics. That’s why on the first of November, the All Saints day, families remember those who died by lightning a candle, replacing the worn plastic flowers from the previous year and cleaning the dirt from the tombstones. #catholicism #portugal #beiraalta #snapshots

A throwback to last month, as we were getting higher in the Indian Himalayas. A calm end of day at the charming Kalpa, with its snow covered peaks surrounding it. The kids playing volleyball in the street ended up “stealing” my camera. Follow the selfie to find out who took the photo!

One of the last memories from my country, before flying to India a couple of months ago, was a brutal forest fire, the most deadly ever in Portugal. It got stuck in my head for its obvious scale, but also for being less that 50km from my family’s home in Central Portugal, a region where forest fires are like swords hanging above everyone’s heads every Summer. Things weren’t much better after my return: that same region has been struck hard by a series of fires that burned almost every green patch of forest that left, but at least the death toll remained the same.

Can’t ignore something as close to me as this, and now wonder how things will be after September, when the subject disappears from the front covers of newspapers and the ones who live there must cut the burned trees and rebuild everything.

A funny moment in the tedious bus crossing of the Rothang Pass: a truck in the opposite direction carrying fresh produce lost some cabbages along the way, that the driver had to go back to pick up. #India #himachalpradesh #road #bus #mountains
