Winter really isn’t the best season to go after nature and landscapes at Trás-Os-Montes. Unless you happen to get snowfall, or even beautiful mornings with misty woods covered with ice, you lack the stunning colors of Spring or Autumn. But the truth is that bleak side of the region pleases me a lot.

Already home after a long weekend taking photos of more than one Entrudo (traditional carnival in Portugal) event. But in the end, carnival is whenever a man wants, so I’ll be posting a few more photos from these last days throughout this week.

This will be a long weekend that will only end Tuesday, going after the ancient carnival traditions of Central and Northern Portugal. But started very differently, with a photowalk in the narrow streets of Lisbon.

The Bica funicular, moving uphill and downhill for decades. Initially those who were coming from the docks and markets by the river sat at the wood benches inside, while nowadays are mostly who found it in a top 10 things to do in Lisbon.

On a green patch that was safe from the flames, this was one of the things that was saved. Closing this iteration of Instagram photos of what’s left after this summer’s wildfires for now, I’ll be back to this another time.

Back home from a quite full weekend at the NatGeo Exodus Aveiro Fest, among lots of talented photographers, both in the stage and the audience. From all the amazing sessions I can’t help to stop thinking those inspire or provoke change: Reza, Mario Cruz, Pete McBride, Akash and Ami Vitale (the last two complemented by insightful masterclasses).
