My World Press Photo 2018 favorites
Having this year the World Press Photo exhibition closer to my home, and also free again, meant that I went more than once to see it. Despite the new venue not being the best, a neat old factory but too small for it, this year’s great selection still shined. I honestly think it was one of the finest selections of the last years, and I ended up picking some photos or projects that caught my eye:http://tirelesseye.tumblr.com/tagged/worldpressphoto2018
I was just going after that pretty cloud in a sunny day, the rest probably was the gods of photography smiling at me ;)

I’m not much of a lifestyle photographer, or even my instagram isn’t a regular travel account, but once you’re in a cool spot you end up taking some cool shots. #douro #Portugal

This is what you get when you put too many Fuji geeks in the same place!! It was a tiring but cool day with the FujiXFocus group along with @Fujifilm_PT at the Douro Valley, trying new gear and tasting port wine! You can check some of today’s updates on Instagram Stories: www.instagram.com/t3mujin/.

Probably was the fanciest road stop in the country, just outside Lisbon, in the middle of a 10km straight road. A big and expensive restaurant, accommodation and even live music. Now only the shell remains. It was my different morning of the Liberty day holiday…

Mientras tanto, en Cuba - João Pedro Almeida
The purple banners are back inside, the robes stored, the candles have been put out. Lent is now over, and with it Good Friday and Easter Sunday. It all starts next year, on the day after Carnival.
Time to go back home and look closely to all the photos from the last days.

These bright red robes and candles that stay lit throughout the ceremony are hard not photograph.

Three years ago me and @Esiracusaphotos drove North to Braga, the “religious capital” of Portugal, to capture Holy Week ans it’s gloominess. I’m keeping the subject but on a different region: after doing a brief scouting last year at Idanha-A-Nova region, this year I’ll be a bit longer there. #portugal #easter #holyweek #catholicism(Holy Week, the days before Resurrection)
Sunny Sundays is what happens in between everything else, including when you’re a bit under the weather. Letting the warm sunlight of the Spring yet to come to help me on my next steps, for this timeline and upcoming trips.
A photo book is daunting project that’s I’ve never considered, but have thought about it every once in a while. A workshop could kickstart that, and what I’ve chosen to work with is my collection of football fields, for now named 100x64.Not sure what will be the outcome of this, or even if it will be printed in any form, the main photos is to test with layouts, sequencing and all things related to bringing out the first version of the book project. If all goes well then I’ll work from that one and work on a second one, but for now most of the updates will go to Instagram Stories that will be grouped into that Highlight entry. And why 100x64? It’s the minimum official measures of a football field.
After all the carnival activity, with all the masks and road trips, I feel like Delhi photos are calling me back…#street #travel #india #delhi
At Vila Boa de Ousilhão caretos light stacks of hay, so that they can jump over the flames. Hay causes a causes a big, dramatic fire, but its bonfires burn down quickly. Nevertheless, there’s always time for one last jump over it.

In the last trip to the north of Portugal I ended up finding three or four football fields I love to shot. Now that I think about it, I have cool football fields from the last three or four trips north. I might be able to do a project solely with football fields from Trás-Os-Montes.

I’ll be posting some of the ongoing work from last week, as I go through and process it. Make sure to check it on my Instagram Stories, there’s stuff to see already!
At Vila Boa one of the tricks a careto (young or old) does is throwing flour to whoever crosses their way. This young girl was thinking I wanted to steal her it from her, when what I wanted was to take this shot. After she reluctantly raised her arm, and I got my shot, told her it was now ok to throw that flour on me.

When a seasoned photographer, with great knowledge of the area, warns you that a snowfall is expected between 7:00 and 9:00 all you must do is wake up early and wait for it. That’s what me, João (the cooperative model in the photos), and Nicole did.
