One of those things that makes your day, Fugas compiled a list of ten travelers on Instagram to follow, and added me along a few great Portuguese photographers. A big, big thank you! Dez viajantes portugueses que queremos seguir (até ao fim do mundo)
A throwback to last month: me as I was about to start my Cuba talk on the NG Exodus Aveiro Fest. And this year I’ll surely be in that audience, getting inspired by more great photogorahers and travelers.(Huge thanks to Aníbal Marques for taking the shot) #tbt #ngexodusaveirofest #ngeaf #aveiro #portugal #festival #adventure #travel #photography #discover #explore

Only now I feel the new year is starting, on the January 1st I was still far too busy. Only now I have time to breathe and look back to my algorithm generated best nine of the year, a neat overview of my last 12 months, where only the Camino de Santiago is missing, and only one actually not from this year: the one with Miriam talking to her granddaughter at Havana.Hope 2019 brings even more cool stuff!!—-Só agora começo a sentir que o ano está a começar, no dia 1 ainda estava demasiado atarefado. #bestnine2018 #portugal #beirabaixa #beiraalta #lisboa #trasosmontes #hongkong
Every New Year’s day Good and Evil face each other in the streets of the small village of Tó. The dark faced Farandulo tries to reach the immaculate Sécia, having only a young boy to separate them.#portugal #trasosmontes #wintersolstice #farandulo #farandulodetó

New year’s day is filled with activity, and the problem is picking one. The Chocalheiro of Bemposta is definitely the winter festivity with the fastest pace, with the chocalheiro literally running through the village’s houses to wish a good year and gather their offering. #portugal #trasosmontes #wintersolstice #mask #chocalheiro #chocalheirodebemposta

Today was the day to return to one of the most beautiful places of Portugal: the cliffs of Douro, with its waters flowing below and birds of prey soaring above.#nature #landscape #dourointernacional #mirandadodouro #trasosmontes #portugal
Spending the slow days between festivities to further explore the outer limits of Montesinho.#nature #landscape #montesinho #trasosmontes #portugal
Wrestling over hay at the very end of the day. A traditional form of wrestling fueled by local rivalry between neighbor villages. #galhofa #portugal #trasosmontes #wintersolstice #festasdesantoestevao #festadosrapazes

In the Mirandese plateau there are no masks, but the festivities are not that much more religious because of that. The pauliteiros will roam the village, dancing at each house and finishing at the church: the only time of the year they are allowed inside. #portugal #trasosmontes #wintersolstice #festasdesaojoaoevangelist #festadosmocos #pauliteiros

Still in a similar tone of the winter solstice masked traditions, that was baptized as Festas de Santo Estêvão, but this time the mischiefs, running through the streets and drinking were at an old favorite of mine: Grijó. #portugal #trasosmontes #wintersolstice #festadosrapazes #mask

Festas de Santo Estêvão (this one at Ousilhao), a religious name for a masked tradition that has very few religious rituals in it, and remains mostly a pagan festivity related with the Winter solstice. #portugal #trasosmontes #wintersolstice #festadosrapazes #mask

Returning to Trás-Os-Montes for me also means football fields, this time revisiting one of my favorites! #nature #landscape #portugal #trasosmontes
It will be complicated in the next few days 😀 #portugal #trasosmontes

Slowing down in the days before Christmas, when even the weather invites you to go inside, close to the warm fire. #beirabaixa #tejo #portugal #landscape
Packing again, this time back the North of Portugal, after the winter solstice traditions, but first I’ll do a break to indulge myself with the seasonal treats around a big table full of people. Enjoy this season’s good things and stay tuned for more photos.
A new version of #darktable is about to come out, and there are some ongoing changes on the #t3mujinpack presets, so I’m thinking on a new 0.5.0 version. Must check how the Tone Curve module changes affect it.
Hanging out with my mates of #fujixfocus FB group on #photowalk in Lisbon’s riverfront, taking a handful of photos, that’s a nice and calm Saturday morning.PS - yes, that’s a Sony camera in the shot, we’re an inclusive Fuji group :D

Just like last year, yesterday I arrived home with the same kind of feeling: my soul filled with joy and inspiration, from the people on stage and those who were sitting next to you. I only feel sorry not being able to interact with more people, from speakers to friends and complete strangers, but two days go by in a blink of an eye.Huge respect and admiration for Bernardo, Pedro, Gonçalo, Isabel and the rest of the team for pulling this off, and can’t thank them enough for letting me be part of it this year. Also a big thank to all those who attended my talk and sang Happy Birthday to me (first time from so many people 😀) or say hi throughout the weekend. In my mind there’s still the closing thought from the talk of Timothy Allen (one of the reasons I returned this year): find meaning. Let’s do that in our travels.See you all there next year! #ngexodusaveirofest #ngeaf #aveiro #portugal #festival #adventure #travel #photography #discover #explore
Big weekend ahead! I will be talking at this stage today, and be attending the this amazing conference for the whole weekend. Looking forward for everything: to share my travels, getting inspiration from talented photographers and meeting new cool people!! #ngexodusaveirofest

The streets around the Red Market, specially the ones when you walk towards the Three Lamps District, are probably my favorite in Macau. A slightly more modern neighborhood, that lacks the traditional cobblestone sidewalks, but so lively and with a neat vintage look. But regardless of which way you walk it’s always busy, so this is a rare peaceful moment.Already left southeast China, but I have so many fresh memories from there… #adifferentchina #macau #street #architecture
