I rarely remember the dreams I have, I do remember having dreamt but the details fade away from my mind before I come out of bed. But not last night, for whatever reason, long story short: I was in Brazil, at a sleazy bar, and left my X100V behind, only to return there to find it nowhere, then went on a quest to read cover it. Like so many dreams I woke before I could find it. But in real life I will never let anything bad happen to you. No, I won’t. No, I won’t. No, I won’t! 👶😂#fujifilm_xseries #X100V
In the last couple of weeks, specially since arriving in Trás-Os-Montes, I haven’t posted that much, and when I did so was mostly in Stories. I often post updates while on the road, and for these weeks the plan was also to work and share older stuff. But it wasn’t time for that. It was time to revisit some of my favorite spots, it was time for being shown new favorite ones, it was time to share a beer before the the light was perfect to take photos (and after also), it was time for picnics in the mountains, it was time to sit around the table with a glass of wine or a cup of coffee. Basically it was time to reconnect with places and people I was needing to reconnect with after this wacky year… Now that I’m returning home there will be plenty of time to go through all the other stuff. #trasosmontes #portugal #fujix100v #fujifilmxseries
I don’t always take a selfie, but when I do it’s because there’s a sun setting behind me…
Kind of a summer update, one that’s strange to me as it is for everyone. With summer came the loosening of the pandemic restrictions here in Portugal, which turned us from home bound to home based. Despite being able to travel (and not being afraid of the pandemic) some thoughts crossed my mind: the mess and ever-changing requirements and overhead on international travel, the fact that this summer everyone will travel locally and all that comes with it. So, for this summer and at least during the “school vacations”, I decided early on that I’d stay low, make use on having a place outside Lisbon I can move away from being most of times at an apartment in the city, and working in the countryside, combining remote work with the everyday routines of a small village. And you can follow some of that in a Instagram Stories Highlight I created just for that:https://www.instagram.com/s/aGlnaGxpZ2h0OjE4MTU3NjU5NTE3MDIzODUy?igshid=dfvv30ewpc6g&story_media_id=2309019610430446715_31235690
Looking for turrets and cannons out there in the wild, but almost hidden from plain sight. #almada #portugal

Some days ago I wrote about the cold, frosty mornings of Trás-Os-Montes. Here the lens of my mate João Maia captured me in one of those mornings.
Roughly year ago I was getting ready for my talk at National Geographic Exodus Aveiro Fest, one of my coolest experiences ever. This year I’m going back to be a “regular” attendee but I’m as stoked as always for an amazing and inspiring weekend!#ngeaf #ngexodusaveirofest #ngexodusaveirofest2019 www.instagram.com/p/Bq7WLFF… View this post on Instagram A post shared by João Pedro Almeida (@t3mujin) on Dec 3, 2018 at 5:43am PST
I’m not the most organized photographer, but in the last photo trips (and doesn’t need to be long ones) there are two habits I’ve been religiously maintaining:As soon as I return import the photos and run all my backup jobs, so that they’re safely stored,And don’t delete immediately the photos from my SD cards and travel backup storage (I usually keep two copies of the photos while on the road), not out lazyness but to have yet another backup in case the imports and culling go wrong, sometimes it remains there for weeks or even months. Today the later came to my rescue: somehow I deleted two days of Iceland photos, and that error already had propagated to my main backups. What could have been a disaster was just an annoyance of having to import those days again from the “original” storage devices, and eventually I’ll have to go through all those photos again.Moral of the story: backups do save your ass, and the more you have the merrier!
Sunseting in the Rocky Mountains, not a G&T or DJ in sight.
My first time seeing and trying to photograph Northern Lights. #iceland
You know you’re not a hard core landscape photographer anymore when the only tripod you bring for Iceland (and Rocky Mountains) is this…
A throwback to last month: me as I was about to start my Cuba talk on the NG Exodus Aveiro Fest. And this year I’ll surely be in that audience, getting inspired by more great photogorahers and travelers.(Huge thanks to Aníbal Marques for taking the shot) #tbt #ngexodusaveirofest #ngeaf #aveiro #portugal #festival #adventure #travel #photography #discover #explore
It will be complicated in the next few days 😀 #portugal #trasosmontes
Packing again, this time back the North of Portugal, after the winter solstice traditions, but first I’ll do a break to indulge myself with the seasonal treats around a big table full of people. Enjoy this season’s good things and stay tuned for more photos.
Just like last year, yesterday I arrived home with the same kind of feeling: my soul filled with joy and inspiration, from the people on stage and those who were sitting next to you. I only feel sorry not being able to interact with more people, from speakers to friends and complete strangers, but two days go by in a blink of an eye.Huge respect and admiration for Bernardo, Pedro, Gonçalo, Isabel and the rest of the team for pulling this off, and can’t thank them enough for letting me be part of it this year. Also a big thank to all those who attended my talk and sang Happy Birthday to me (first time from so many people 😀) or say hi throughout the weekend. In my mind there’s still the closing thought from the talk of Timothy Allen (one of the reasons I returned this year): find meaning. Let’s do that in our travels.See you all there next year! #ngexodusaveirofest #ngeaf #aveiro #portugal #festival #adventure #travel #photography #discover #explore
Big weekend ahead! I will be talking at this stage today, and be attending the this amazing conference for the whole weekend. Looking forward for everything: to share my travels, getting inspiration from talented photographers and meeting new cool people!! #ngexodusaveirofest
